In order to request assistance from MetWorks we request that the
Skipper/Owner/Operator contacts MetWorks by any method using the
application form provided. Additional information may include:
Prior to Departure
- Weather conditions that should be avoided for the type of craft
or for safe and comfortable progress
- Details of the proposed passage with departure and destination
ports and any 'calls' expected.
- The earliest or latest time that the passage needs to commence
(if time is a factor)
- Any other significant information which may assist us in offering
appropriate advice.
Each message will consist of the following details :
- Any suitable recommendations, from the team, which may facilitate
the passage safely and economically.
- A fully detailed Synoptic Situation, in text format. This will
describe all the weather systems in the local area and their expected
movement over the next 24/48 hours.
- Wind direction and speed (Beaufort) for each day throughout
the next five days.
- Significant sea heights (combination of sea and swell waves)
for each of the next five days.
- Swell conditions and direction for each of the five days
- Full details of all tropical cyclones, ice limits and any other
significant features which may affect the passage.
DURING OCEAN PASSAGES
In order that the vessel can benefit fully from our services we
would request that the Master keeps MetWorks closely advised with
the following information.
- The latest ETD from the final port (within 24 hours of departure
if possible)
- The expected speed for the passage.
- Updates on any changes to the ETD, speed or the destination
port
- Any other significant factors which may affect the estimate
of the vessels future positions.
- On departure please advise the ATD.
- The DAILY position in UTC with wind and seas experienced
- Any significant changes in speed, route plan or destination.
We wish to use e-mail communication whenever possible but we can
also accept direct fax communications. All telex messages should
be sent to 892181 addressed with the word MetWorks to ensure automated
delivery.
Please advise if an expected forecast is not received.
