These instructions will apply to both the Full Weather Routeing
and to our Fast Track services, as we constantly monitor all the
vessels positions throughout the passage.
In order that the Master and the vessel can benefit fully from
our services we would request that the Master provides MetWorks
with the following information, before passage, during the voyage
and at the end of the passage.
- The latest ETD from the final port (within 24 hours of departure
if possible)
- The expected speed for the passage.
- Updates on any changes to the ETD, speed or the destination
port
- Any other significant factors which may affect the estimate
of the vessels future positions.
- On departure please advise the ATD.
To ensure that we can provide the best possible forecasts and service
during passage we would request that the Master keeps MetWorks closely
advised on:
- The DAILY position in UTC with wind and seas experienced
- Any significant changes in speed, route plan or destination.
We wish to use e-mail communication whenever possible but we can
also accept direct fax communications. All telex messages should
be sent to 892181 addressed with the word MetWorks to ensure automated
delivery.
Please advise if an expected forecast is not received.
When providing the service, the MetWork's team of Master Mariners
plot the vessel's D.R. positions, for up to five days in advance,
using a combination of the latest ship performance curves, (for
that particular type & size of the vessel) and the current weather
information (received daily).
The D.R. positions are plotted on the vessels chart and are used
to determine the expected weather conditions during each of the
five days ahead. It is therefore essential that MetWorks are informed
of any changes to the ship's course and speed.
Each vessel's positions are update DAILY using the reports provided
by the Master and the forecast weather conditions for the route
ahead are monitored for changes.
